1-Day Surface Manta Snorkeling Tour
The Winter Season (Dec – Mar) features the Surface Manta Snorkeling Tour.
Mantas often come right up to the surface to feed on accumulated plankton.
This winter-exclusive tour lets you witness Mantas swimming nearby with their mouths open wide.
With English-speaking staff, communication is perfect!

The Surface Manta Snorkel is limited to Dec–Mar. Ishigaki is fun not only in summer but also in winter.
Why not experience an ocean world different from summer?
Our main spots are in the outer island areas.
In winter, areas like Kuroshima and Aragusuku (Panari) see Mantas rise near the surface to feed on plankton.
Feeding Mantas often swim close by with large mouths open—it’s spectacular. You may also see sea turtles and various other fish.
*When encountering Mantas, observation must be done from the surface via snorkel. Chasing or skin diving is prohibited.
*Wetsuit use is mandatory for thermal protection and buoyancy control.
*Since the sea can be rough in winter, we may not always be able to visit the planned points.
*We may visit areas near Ishigaki Island, not just remote islands, to find the surface Mantas.

⭐︎ Reason for Prohibiting Skin Diving/Free Diving ⭐︎
The Yaeyama Islands have multiple internationally famous Manta spots known as Cleaning Stations, where Mantas hover near the surface for small fish to remove parasites.
If people enter the station area or interfere with the Mantas’ behavior, they will quickly leave the location.
The same applies to winter snorkeling: stressing the feeding Mantas will cause them to move away.
Many boats gather at the Manta spots. Please cooperate to minimize stress on the animals so everyone can observe them.
Prohibiting skin diving may seem unusual internationally, but this is a local regulation upheld for generations. We deeply appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
